Music Categories and Motives

Posted by Kid2Will - July 11th, 2009

SO I've decided that any of my songs that I submit, that, if they clearly do not fit into A single category that I will simply put them in Video Games. Because, well Video Game music is my favorite, and I'm usually picturing a video game scene or fantasy like setting, Ha ha. I'm tired of getting critiqued when my "style" of trance / techno / DnB isn't mainstream. It's Newgrounds, I would much rather hear someones crazy weird styled melody, who is just starting out, than someones cheesy trance rhythm and bass in which you've heard in nearly EVERY song that they have composed. I'm guilty of this of course, I'm not looking for a scapegoat for my self. But I try to keep it to a minimum.

Anyway, music is a hobby, I never intend to sell any of my music for a profit , Sure someone might make good stuff and sell it, but really never change their style of music composing, to where all their music sounds alike, its just different melodies, and a different key, but the same transposition.
- If you don't know what that means I can explain, just send me a message.

I just like getting feedback. (That's why I submit) Mainly the feedback of any emotions that were triggered during your experience of the song. It's not that I could care less about how my drum kick wasn't loud enough XD. It's just not as important. It might of been more important to me in the past, but as of now, not really.

If this seemed to be a rant, don't think of it as one. I've been kinda AFK from Newgrounds for a while, and when I returned I wanted to make clear why I'm here.
